Scott Brookes

I graduated from The Pennsylvania State University with a BS in Chemical Engineering a long time ago in a state far away.  I have worked in the insurance industry for over 30 years.  I am currently a sales professional at R & R Insurance Services.  WMY education, training and background enables me to bring safety and risk management education and training to my customers.

FIRST requires teams to operate in a safe manner.  My son asked me to help out with this area.  My background enables me to bring safety education and training to the team.  We are working to become an OSHA compliant safe organization.

In addition to the Safety Mentor responsibilities I am also the Arrowhead High School Liaison as well as the FLL / FTC Outreach Mentor.

I enjoy working with the students.  I find that every interaction enables me to learn something new and exciting.

Bruce Borchardt

I am a lead mentor in my 13th season with the team.  I got hooked on FIRST after my two sons introduced me to it when they were on the team. My main focus with the team is on the mechanical design of the robot, parts inventory and parts source management.  (I buy the stuff :>)).
I have a BS in wildlife management and biology from UWSP and an associate degree in business data processing from WCTC.  In my professional life I am a Senior Systems Engineer(Mainframe) for Kohls Department Stores where I have worked for 30+years.
My hobbies include hunting, fishing and woodworking. My biggest woodworking project has been the construction of the family fishing boat which we use as often as possible on local lakes and have even towed it to Florida for many weeks of fishing the gulf.

I am a mentor for the Programming subteam and in my second season.  I like thinking challenges and I want to offer those types of opportunities to my 2 boys and while I’m at it why not others.  “FIRST Inspires” is the perfect vehicle in so many ways.  The different layers at FIRST allows outreach to the younger students to engage their thinking process early.

I’ve been an engineer for 20+ years at Rockwell Automation where I am currently a firmware technical lead and designer for embedded Safety IO controls.  Rockwell is a committed partner with FIRST at every level to create a stream of thinkers to support every nation.

I have seen the talent and the support, to make this well established team at Arrowhead, routinely finish at the top.  The programming team leaders have trained many students.  The quality, manner and challenge of the training is better than I have seen from a university.
